Ode to the Moon
Ode To The Moon
Right before the moonrise
Moonrise and I am caught
In the chords of the rhythm revolution
Locked into the concepts orbiting above and below me
Heaven and Hell
Sky and Dirt
Rain and Fire
Test me
I rearrange
I reconvene with the spirit of sobriety
Clear as the crisp cool collection of questions answered
Can I resize the standards suggested by scholars
Yes
Can I redesign the education of my Daughters
Yes
Can I formulate a new religion
Desecrate the podium of Conviction
Rely upon myself to complete those commissions
Yes
Set before me are the trials of these Americas
These hungry children
These forgotten wives
These thirsty men
I beg Apollo for a morning
“Send me the Sun!”
But the Moon has other plans for me
Seeks out the shadows
The reflections
The Old Earth Songs Three
I am forced to cast spells and conjure images of gardens and laughter
Of pitter and patter
Feet small
Young Love in the flesh
To heal the wounds that hate made
